Pirkanmaa Film Centre has
been advancing the knowledge of film culture in the Tampere region
since 1982. The office of the Centre is at Kehräsaari in Tampere. In
the same building you can find the cinema of the Centre, Niagara.
The Film Centre arranges screenings at its own cinema and in the
Tampere region; educates and informs; and co-operates with cultural
and educational individuals and organisations.
Quality films at Niagara
You can see the best films in town at the Centre’s own cinema,
Niagara. Niagara is situated at Kehräsaari, in the same building as
the office of the Centre. There are 129 seats in the cinema and
performances seven nights a week. The cinema screens both 35 and 16
mm films as well as video films. Besides the normal programme, there
are numerous special screenings of different kinds at the cinema.

Film culture in the Tampere region
Pirkanmaa Film Centre arranges screenings in the Tampere region at,
for example, day-care centres and schools. The Centre also rents 16
mm films for screenings.
Education
Schools and educational institutions can contact the Centre for
lessons in the field of cinema, animation- and video workshops, etc.
Film archives
Pirkanmaa Film Centre keeps an extensive archive of films and
film-connected material for the use of members and schools.
Cultural co-operation
Pirkanmaa Film Centre co-operates with schools, day-care centres,
Tampere Cultural Office, Tampere Film Festival, Centre for education
in film and television, Rakkautta & Anarkiaa: Helsinki Film Festival,
Night Visions, etc.
